Pedal harp solos by Salzedo, includes set of Five Preludes
2 Available

No harpist in the 20th century has had a more significant impact on development of the instrument than Carlos Salzedo (1885-1961). This is a collection all harpists will want to own and cherish. Difficulty level ranges from intermediate to very advanced. This is a collective reprint of the Carl Fischer editions; folk songs and music by Handel, Haydn, Brahms and Anton Rubenstein as well as his delightful Five Preludes. All the selections bear a Carl Fischer copyright dated between 1923 - 1925 and include most of the verbal introductory instructions given by Salzedo appearing in the original editions. Includes a preface by Yolanda Kondonassis. 64 pages.

Carmen Suite No. 1 Harp Part
1 Available

The harp part for Suite 1 of Georges Bizets' 1875 comic opera Carmen. Suite No. 1 and Suite No. 2 are composed of movements drawn from the opera by Ernest Guiraud. This work, which premiered at the Opera Comique in March of 1875 was not well-received initially (due in part to the scandal caused by the story's treatment of love and betrayal) but has become one of the most famous operas in the genre. The music from this work, particularly the "Prelude," "Habanera" and "Toreador" song have become ubiquitous in popular culture. Because the opera is based in Seville, Spain the music has many elements of traditional Spanish music and dance forms. The harp plays a prominent role in this symphonic work, particularly in its duet with the flute in the "No. 2 Intermezzo."
