This 1950 composition by Dutch composer Henk Badings (1907-1987) is a fantastic example of the complimentary timbres of harp and flute. A wonderful gem for any chamber concert program.
Ballade is one of Claude Debussy's earliest piano pieces, originally entitled Ballade russe. The piano music of Debussy (1862-1918), in both its fluidity and its tonal space, is uniquely suited to the timbre of the harp.
A beautiful solo work for the advanced pedal harpist, composed by former Boston Symphony harpist Alfred Holy. This was one of Holy's later works and is a gorgeous selection for recital programs. Edited by Domonique Piana, this is the first publication of this work from the manuscript. This edition includes some excellent notes from the publisher about Holy's life and work as well as some explanation of the markings in the piece.
