This movement, based on the pentatonic scale, is taken from Ravel's "Mother Goose Suite" originally written as a piano duet and described as "five children's pieces." This movement "Laiderinnette, imperatrice des pagodes" (Little Ugly Girl, Empress of the Pagodas), was based on a story called "The Green Serpent." The pentatonic nature of this piece reflects the association of the far east (Pagodas) with this pentatonic sound. Ravel orchestrated this work and it has also been performed as a ballet - like much of Ravel's music it's lush beauty falls very naturally on the harp.
A work for thee-harp ensemble by Meg Robinson. The piece can be played by an ensemble of beginning to intermediate lever or pedal harpists, as each of the three parts is written with a different degree of technical difficulty.
This original composition is part of Meg Robinson's "Melodies for Sophisticated Strings" series. This double-sided edition includes versions of this piece in either c minor or b minor and is perfect for the intermediate pedal or lever harpist. 4 pages, no pedal or lever changes.
"Danny Boy" is one of over 100 songs composed to the same tune. The author was an English lawyer, Frederic Weatherly. The first appearance of the tune in print occurred in 1855. An earlier name for this tune is "Londonderry Air."
Lovely arrangement by Deborah Friou of the famous Londonderry Air for intermediate lever or pedal harp. No lever or pedal changes. 2 pages.
