Lilting and mesmerizing at the same time. Can be played at a variety of tempos, although marked dotted quarter note equals 70. The piece incorporates accents, and pdlt. Suitable for the beginner-intermediate lever or pedal harpist.

Shepherd's Farewell
An arrangement by Daniel Burton for intermediate pedal harp of the "Shepherds Farewell" from Hector Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ (The Childhood of Christ). The "Shepherds Farewell" from this choral work by Berlioz was the first piece of the work written - it was originally composed as a solo for organ which might explain its easy translation to harp (the organ and harp share a similarly bell-like tone). Berlioz originally published this piece under the name of a fictitious composer - and was pleasantly surprised to find that some people who disliked his music loved this piece!

This book contains pieces from Ray Pool's CD "The Crystal Spring." These traditional hymns are given new life in Pool's wonderful arrangements. He occassionally spices them up with jazzy harmonies, but they are never out of character.
This book has two versions of each pieces - one for pedal harp or lever harps in E-flat, and one for lever harps in C. All arrangements are diatonic, so there are no pedal or lever changes, which is amazing when you hear how varied each piece is. 39 pages.
