This work by the well-known French composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) was originally composed in 1907 for bass voice and piano. Carmen's arrangement for flute and intermediate-advanced harp preserves the bass sonorities of the original composition (in the harp's lower register). The seductive rhythm of the habanera in this work is highlighted by the interaction of the duo. The harp part in this arrangement is truly idiomatic, including harmonics, trills, rearranged arpeggios and glissandos while the flute echoes the harp's glissando and trill effects to create an aura of exotic mystery.
Includes score for harpist and separate part for flute. Score is 7 pages
