French folk song for two harps
The French folk song (this is not the famous piano work of a similar name by Claude Debussy) for two harps. It is written for one pedal harp and one lever harp, but the pedal harp part has only three pedal changes. These could be done as four lever changes by omitting some notes just in measures 13 and 14. If this is done, both parts could be played on a 34 string lever harp. The piece begins in G and modulates to C halfway through. At this point, the Harp I part is playing an obligato treble accompaniment in octaves with some sixteenth notes at quarter note = 92. I f this is too difficult, it could be played as a single line divided up between two hands. The piece should present no great difficulty to two early intermediate players. A good learning piece for ensemble experience. Two identical 3 page parts. Duration is 1.5 min.

Au fond du temple saint
"Au fond du temple saint" from George Bizet's opera "The Pearl Fishers" arranged for flute and harp by Julietta Anne Rabens. Bizet (1838-1875) composed "The Pearl Fishers" (Les pêcheurs de perles) in 1863 and "au fond du temple saint," a duet about friendship has become one of the most popular duets of all opera.

This arrangement is for intermediate-advanced pedal harp. The flute plays the famous melody line with the harp playing a series of 16th note arpeggios (after a few lines of eighth-note introduction), emphasizing important harmonies with octaves in the left hand. The flute and harp have important parts in the original orchestration of this work, so it sounds very natural (and close to the original) when performed as a duo by harp and flute.
Score is 6 pages, includes separate part for flute.

Autumn Moon
This piece possesses the signature sound of Frank's other compositions with dancing rhythms, tasteful glissing and a jazzy flavor. This work, suitable for the beginner-intermediate lever or pedal harpist, was composed by Frank after the Southeastern Harp Weekend 2011. Frank has this to say about the origin of this work:
"While presenting a workshop on composition at Southeastern Harp Weekend 2011, the participants learned the essential elements for creating a composition - so we picked a key, selected a time signature, chose a few notes for the A Section and a few more notes for the B Section - and we began to create our composition. Although we created a delightful little 16-bar piece, I liked its 'bones' and decided to enhance and enlarge it."

Ave Maria & Serenade
Two songs by Schubert (Ave Maria and Serenade) arranged for intermediate-level pedal harp by Daniel Burton. These two arrangements would be great for weddings or other events and they'd also serve well as short little harp solos for intermediate pedal harp students.

The Ave Maria arrangement features a triplet introduction in the right hand and then flows into an arpeggiated left hand accompaniment under the right-hand melody line. The Serenade is also quite lovely, and the two pieces would work beautifully as a set.

Ave Maria Accompaniment Book (Bach/Gounod)
The beloved text, "Ave Maria," is derived from both scripture and church tradition. Used for centuries as prayer as well as a mantra-like background for meditation, the text ranks among the most beloved in western civilization.
Of the many, many musical settings of this familiar text, there are two which are heard most often, especially, though certainly not exclusively, at weddings. Both compositions are products of the nineteenth century.
Franz Schubert's lyrical art song setting is a three-stanza German leid, almost universally recognized and enjoyed.
More economical with the text and of shorter duration is the Bach/Gounod, "Ave Maria," which is the version arranged in this book. Using the first prelude from Johann Sebastian Bach's Well Tempered Clavier, Book I the French operatic composer Charles Gounod added a soaring melody over the inexorable murmuring of the prelude, which is quoted exactly and in its entirety.
This volume contains two transpositions in E-flat major and F major for use with vocal soloists. Additionally, there is a C major version which may be used with an instrumental soloist. Violin and flute seem most likely, though clarinet (untransposed) or an artful saxophone may also be successful in this key.
And finally, the accompaniment may stand alone as the instrumental prelude which it originally was and yet remains.

Late Mozart piece arranged for early intermediate pedal harp
Mozart's lovely Ave Verum Corpus arranged for harp by Daniel Burton. Short, lyrical classical piece appropriate for intermediate level pedal harpists. There are a considerable amount of pedal movements making this unsuitable for lever harpists, but the notes played are not difficult. The piece has text, which is not included, but easy enough to locate on the internet. Mozart composed this Eucharist hymn near the end of his life and he beautifully juxtaposes the harmonic complexity against the melodic simplicity. Quite wonderful. 3 pages.
