Liszt piece transcribed for solo pedal harp
Angelus
is the first piece in the third volume of
Annees de pelerinage
, published in 1883. This piece has both impressionistic and expressionistic tendencies, using the whole physical and expressive range of the harp. The whole middle section is embellished with bisbigliandos, which create an indelible, uncanny effect. Moving beyond Romanticism, the beauties of
Angelus
take effect to unveil, with layers of meaning asking to be peeled away, one by one, and will prove to be highly rewarding.

Annie Laurie for Three Harps
William Douglas of Fingle, who was in love with Annie Laurie, wrote the original poem "Annie Laurie" in 1685. It is said Mr. Douglas wrote this poem under an unlucky star, for Annie Laurie afterwards married Mr. Fergusson of Craigddoroch. This traditional Scottish song was a favorite of the Scottish soldiers during the Crimean War.
This version, for three lap, lever, or pedal harps is suited for a beginner level harp ensemble. The parts for Harps 1, 2 and 3 are written in the treble clef (and there is a version of Harp 3 included transposed into the bass clef as well) so they are well-suited parts for beginning harpists. A truly lovely piece - sure to be a hit at any harp ensemble recital!

A collection of fifty themes and melodies in enhanced lead sheet format
Originally developed for students in the 'Bedsides Harp' therapy program, this collection assists harpists in the study of playing from a fake book or in lead sheet format. Ray Pool utilizes "enhanced lead sheet format," a term he defines as "educational with a performance orientation as the ultimate goal. A solo melody line and chord symbols are given the same style of a traditional 'Fake Book.' However, extra information and suggestions are provided to facilitate the performance." This collection is designed to suit the needs of any harpist looking to broaden their repertoire, but would be extremely useful to those specializing in "Harp Therapy" and public location performances. Basic Chord Theory knowledge is required.
Specific Notes:
Written on a single staff, the right had plays a solo melody that is completely edited with suggested fingerings in traditional brackets.
The left hand reads from individual notes of longer rhythmic value, typically half or whole notes.
Each title is given a grade indication of *, ** or *** to indicate level of difficulty.
Key signatures are confined to C or G major and their relative minors.
Notes range from the E two strings above middle C to the C below middle C.

Arcadelt Ave Maria
An arrangement for harp by Daniel Burton of Franz Liszt's "Arcadelt Ave Maria," based on an
Ave Maria
written by Flemish Renaissance composer Jacob Arcadelt (1505-1568). This arrangement includes left hand harmonics under a lilting melody played in fifths and quarter notes in the right hand. The simplicity of this work speaks to its Renaissance origins (Renaissance harmony was much sparser than Baroque and Classical harmonies) and the left hand accompaniment consists primarily of single notes, with octaves entering into the mix as the piece builds to a finish).
Suitable for the intermediate pedal harp or lever harps tuned in E flat

Aria
This lovely aria by G.F. Handel has been arranged for the intermediate lever or pedal harpist by Rhett Barnwell. This aria is from Rinaldo and is known as "Lascia ch'io pianga." The original text for this aria translates as "Let me lament my cruel destiny; let me sigh for freedom! Let grief sunder the chains that bind me if only out of pity for my anguish."
This arrangement for harp is particularly suited to convey the anguish of this aria.

Aria & Variations (Harp and Piano)
An arrangement for harp and piano by Daniel Burton of Ludwig van Beethoven's original variations for four-hand piano. Written in 1799, this song is based on the first stanza of Goethe's poem "Presence of the Loved One."
The "primo" part of this four-hand piece has been transcribed for the harpist, with extensive editing done to the harp's part in order to make it more idiomatic. The part of the piano has also been pared down and thinned in texture in order to provide a better balance between the two instruments. The key has been changed in this transcription from D to E-flat and a few measures were added as a final section at the end. Suitable for the intermediate or intermediate-advanced pedal harpist.
Includes two scores. Each score is 8 pages

Duet for organ and pedal harp
Beautiful duet written for harp and organ by Marcel Grandjany. An effective piece for a unique instrumental combination. The piece opens with the harp stating a very singable melody - thus the "aria" - in stately chords accompanied by the organ. The harp then goes into a long set of dramatic arpeggios that accompany the organ playing the melody. Lovely for use in church or for concert use. Includes full score organ part and separate harp part . For intermediate level pedal harp. Just a few pedal changes, these are marked. Organ part is 17 pages, harp part is 8 pages.
