Brilliant set of theme and variations for pedal harp |
3 Available |
This energetic set of variations has become a standard in the pedal harp repertoire. Begins with a quasi cadenza introduction that contains hints of the theme, followed by a simple statement of the theme. Then an allegretto variation using scales and arpeggios followed by a piu vivo variation with running sixteenth notes. The third variation is in the minor at an allegro tempo and has right hand cross under arpeggios with the melody in the left hand. Next is the allegretto grazioso with left hand harmonics. The fifth and last variation is a brilliant allegretto with cross finger placements and scales that lead to a dramatic climax followed by a short coda. The variations are only one or two pages each, making the whole piece a balanced length for the listener. Appropriate for the advanced intermediate level player; about at the same level as the Handel B flat Concerto for Harp. 12 pages |
