This pickup works at any volume level without feedback, which can be a concern when playing at high sound levels.
The pickup is discreetly mounted inside the soundbox of the harp. A single jack mounted on the back of the harp makes for true "plug and play" ease of use. A single guitar cable allows you to plug your harp straight into any amplifier and most PA systems, with no need for a preamp box or complicated connections. If you are playing in situations requiring very high volume, you may want to add a preamplifier to the system. Installation involves attaching mounting clips to the internal braces or sides of the harp, snapping the cable harness into the clips, gluing the elements in place, and drilling a hole and mounting the jack in the back of the harp. There are detailed instructions. If you prefer not to drill a hole, you can simply connect to the jack through the bottom soundhole on your harp. There is a template for placing the elements in Dusty Strings harps; if you are installing it in another make of harp, it is good to experiment with the element placement to confirm the best sounding attachments points.

Installation Instructions:
1. Transducer unit is designed to be installed approximately one-third of the way up from the bottom of the sound board. Attaches to the sound board with (included) foam mounting tape, which provides a solid and secure mounting for the pickup but still allows for quick and easy removal of the system.
2. Main bridge unit of the pickup (white label) sits across the string strip. Treble extension unit (the smaller rosewood part attached to the main unit) enhances the sound of the pickup, extends the range and tonal quality and allows the unit to sample sound over a larger area of a harps sound board. The preamp/ battery unit mounts to an inner surface of the harp sound box with self adhesive Velcro. The entire pickup system is removable in seconds, should you not want to leave it in place.
3. Cross bracing provides a convenient spot to place the preamp and still provided good access for plugging in a standard 1/4" guitar cord. On some harps this unit will mount on the hidden inside lip of the back of the sound box or on the curving inner wall of the sound box itself.
4. A 24 inch shielded wire connects the piezo unit to the preamp unit. There should be plenty of wire to allow the pickup to be placed where required and to be able to mount the preamp unit in a suitable location.

The outside mounting "Dualie" pickup uses a special low stick putty to temporarily hold the piezo unit to either the inside or outside of your harp. It provides very easy installation for occasional sound reinforcement needs. It can also be attached to your harp and plugged into an electronic tuner. This lets the tuner get a more accurate reading of your string's pitch, and also allows the tuner to properly hear your harp when other orchestra members are blaring away nearby.

The "Dualie" pickup produces an "instrument-level" signal which is compatible with most standard "guitar" amplifiers.

The pickup attaches quickly and easily with Schatten's special supplied low residue putty for outside mounting. Comes with a 10 foot Mogami shielded cable and a standard 1/4" heavy duty output plug and is ready to plug right into your amp.

The inside mounting "Dualie" pickup comes with a special high stick putty that will keep the pickup in place without any difficulty for years. Designed to operate properly and sound terrific without the use of a preamp if you are running into any 'normal' amp (guitar amp, bass amp, etc.). Weighing just a few ounces, it does not inhibit soundboard vibration. Comes prewired to a take-apart 1/4" phone jack (see picture).

This pickup is designed for permanent installation in a harp. A hole will need to be drilled in back of the harp to push the jack through. The jack tightens securely from the outside.

Once the pickup has been permanently installed in your harp, setup for a gig is easy - just plug-and-play like the other members of your band.
