This incredible sonata by French composer Germaine Tailleferre is dedicated to the legendary Basque harpist Nicanor Zabaleta.
The harp part for Tchaikovsky's orchestral suite based on his masterpiece: the Ballet Casse-Noisette (Nutcracker Ballet), Op. 71a (1892). Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet is a perennial Christmas favorite and the harp is featured prominently throughout, perhaps most noticeably in the cadenza opening the "Valse des Fleurs (Waltz of the Flowers)" and the arpeggiated accompaniment in the "Pas de Deux." This suite condenses popular portions of the ballet. This edition combines the first and second parts in such a way that a harpist could play either both or just one of the parts.
The Nutcracker ballet by Tchaikovsky is perhaps one of the most famous orchestral works for harp. This lovely, idiomatic arrangement by harpist Mary Jane Rupert, professor of harp at Wellesley College, is perfect for gig or chamber settings. Arranged for harp and flute, this intermediate-advanced edition includes the most well-known and well-loved dances from the Nutcracker suite. 43 pages, pedal changes are marked.
A collection of arrangements by Daniel Burton of Fantasies by George Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). A contemporary of Bach and Handel, Telemann's works are considered an important part of the late-Baroque/early-Classical period. These works were originally composed for harpsichord; Burton's arrangements fall very naturally under the harpist's fingers and incorporate typical Baroque techniques such as Alberti bass, call and response between the two hands, and repeated bass notes.
From Jane Pickering's Lute Book (c. 1616), arranged by Ellen Tepper. Lutist Jane Pickering was associated with the court of Henry, Prince of Wales. This piece is from her notebook. Arranged in several ways for harps in various combinations: a duet with equally challenging parts, a trio with harps I and II in treble clef only, and harp III as an accompaniment part. A score is included for study or conducting. Also includes a duet for harp and C treble instrument ( flute, violin, recorder etc.) All arrangements for either pedal or lever harp, there are just a few lever or pedal changes. Range is from C an octave below middle C to first C above the treble staff, suitable for most 26-string models with levers on C, F and G. The parts are of varying difficulty to accommodate a range of playing levels. Pedal notations are below the staff, and lever changes indicated by diamond-shaped notes. 17 pages
